Financial Obligations for Juvenile Cases

If you child is placed on probation, then you should be aware of court ordered fines and fees that are associated with being placed on probation.  We do our best to keep these expenses to a minimum.

Fees include:

•    Filing fee of $20. This fee is applied to each petition filed in juvenile court.

•    Probation supervision fees are $20 for each month that your child remains on supervised probation.

•    Community Service fees of $.60 per hour ordered.  This fee covers workman’s compensation insurance and needs to be paid prior to beginning work on a community service project.  For more information on community service click here:

•    Restitution is compensation for damage or loss as a result of the child’s criminal behavior.  Determination of restitution is made by the magistrate judge, and an order is entered regarding the amount.

All fines, fees and any restitution ordered must be paid in full prior to the termination of the young person’s supervised probation.  A monthly payment agreement can be sent to the court and a copy of this payment agreement can be found here:

You will not be sent a monthly bill for court fines and fees.  Payments are accepted in person or can be mailed to:  Magistrate Court, 201 2nd Ave S, Ste 106, Hailey, Idaho  83333 or payment can be by phone by contacting 208-788-5521.  Please have your full name and case number to make a payment.

Other additional costs associated with probation include fees for educational classes, evaluation, counseling, or other treatments that are required for your child to successfully complete the terms and conditions of probation. These fees must be paid at the time of service to the provider or payment arrangements may be made through the Blaine County Probation Department.  Please note that parents may also be expected to engage in treatment and programming as part of their child’s probation.  Information on parental involvement can be found here.
