On Saturday November 17, 2018 at approximately 1:00 a.m. a deputy from the Ketchum Police Division of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office began pursuit of a vehicle traveling south at a high rate of speed on Main Street in Ketchum, Idaho.
The driver, later identified as Mary North, age 32 of Challis, Idaho, refused to pull over, and drove recklessly reaching speeds of 110 mph on Highway 75 between Ketchum and Hailey. Deputies terminated the pursuit at the Hailey City line for public safety and notified authorities to the south.
North drove through Lincoln County and continued driving south into Jerome County at speeds exceeding 125 miles per hour before being stopped on Highway 93 at milepost 61 in Jerome County, Idaho.The Idaho State Police assisted by deploying spike strips, effectively bringing the pursuit to a stop without any injury to officers or the occupants of the vehicle.
North was taken into custody by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office without further incident and is being charged with Eluding Law Enforcement Officers and Injury to a Child, both felonies. North is being held in the Jerome County Jail pending arraignment. Additional criminal charges for the Blaine County pursuit are pending a determination by Prosecutors.
